Charles Knudsen is a composer working across piano and chamber music, with a focus on melody, harmonic color, and clear musical ideas. His writing draws on elements of Impressionism and jazz harmony, while maintaining a direct, lyrical style. His work includes solo piano pieces as well as chamber music such as string quartet and violin-piano repertoire. Charles focuses on building a recorded catalog of original compositions for listening and for use in film, television, and other media. Alongside his work as a composer, Charles has spent over two decades in education in Japan as the founder of schools dedicated to helping children realize their dreams and potential, an experience that continues to shape his approach to structure, clarity, and communication in all of his endeavors.
