Bio
Charles Knudsen is an award-winning composer whose music spans solo piano and chamber repertoire, with a focus on melody, harmonic color, and emotional storytelling. Drawing on elements of Impressionism and jazz harmony, his works combine lyrical expression with clarity of form and have received international recognition, including multiple Gold Prizes at the Debussy International Music Competition and an Excellent Creativity Special Prize at the Satie International Music Competition.
His growing catalog includes piano works, string quartets, and music for violin and piano, with an increasing focus on professionally recorded performances for listeners worldwide and for use in film, television, and other media.
Alongside his work as a composer, Charles has spent more than two decades in education in Japan, founding schools dedicated to helping children realize their dreams and potential. That experience continues to shape his artistic voice through a commitment to structure, communication, and creating meaningful emotional experiences through music.
